In 1983, Family House opened its doors to patients and their families, providing them with comfortable, affordable surroundings while they underwent specialized hospital treatment at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), the Western Pennsylvania Hospital and other hospitals in the Pittsburgh area.
Family House, a 501C(3) non-profit charitable organization, provides a special "home away from home" for patients and/or families who must travel to Pittsburgh for treatment of serious or life-threatening illnesses. Thanks to the generosity and support of the Pittsburgh community, Family House is able to provide a comfortable haven to help our guests through stressful times
